Two castles, noble families and a maritime town
Begun in 1651 by Petar Zrinski, Nova Kraljevica stands at the entrance to Bakar Bay. The restored complex now houses interpretation, exhibitions and the Small Museum of Fishing and Shipbuilding.
The older fortified complex adds another layer to Kraljevica’s noble story and places the town firmly on the cultural map of the Frankopan routes.
Kraljevica’s shipyard heritage is not a decorative footnote. It is part of the town’s modern identity and gives the destination unusual depth for its size.
Kraljevica works as a compact Kvarner base for heritage walks, coastal days and short drives toward Rijeka, Crikvenica and Krk.
